What to Expect

At Vista, maintaining excellent communication and strong relationships with our referring veterinarians is a priority.  Our goal is to provide a smooth transition of care for both you and your client. We are here solely to enhance your own primary care services by assisting with emergency/urgent care cases that occur after hours or conflict with your existing schedule, or providing 24-hour or specialty care. We do not offer general practice services and make every effort to direct your client and patient back to you for followup care.

As a referring veterinarian, you can transfer your patients directly to us from your hospital, direct them here from home, or provide them with our contact information should they ever need after hours care for any new or preexisting conditions.  If you are referring a patient for an ongoing or acute medical condition please feel free to call and speak with one of our doctors about the case prior to the patient’s arrival to ensure the best service for your client.  We also ask that you fax over any pertinent records, labwork, or other results when able or send them with the client.  You or your client can schedule appointments directly with any service.  If you have a patient that requires immediate care from one of our specialty services and there is no same day appointment availability, they will be admitted through our emergency service.  Our emergency team will initiate treatment and then facilitate transfer of the patient to the appropriate service for ongoing care. While your patient is hospitalized we will send you daily faxes of our medical records to keep you informed of their ongoing treatment and can also provide phone updates at your request.

Vista maintains an on site supply of blood products including whole blood, packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, albumin, and immunoglobulin.  Our surgeons are on call 24 hours a day to provide advanced surgical support for our emergency service.   Depending on your wishes, we can keep your patient in the hospital until they are recovered and ready to be discharged or we can transfer the patient back to your facility for ongoing care in the morning.  Bundled packages with set pricing are available for overnight hospitalization and include intravenous fluids and a limited number of injections.  A price sheet for these bundled packages is available upon request and can be faxed to your office.  Should you require an estimate for your client prior to transfer, we can provide one but ask that you call us directly so our emergency veterinarian can obtain the medical details necessary to provide a more accurate estimate.

We hope to be a valuable resource to both you and your clients while respecting the importance of your role as a primary caregiver and the ongoing relationship you have with your clients.  We value the trust you have placed in us and continue to strive to provide your clients and their pets with the best care possible.
