Vista Veterinary Hospital Participates in Groundbreaking FICUSS Study

At Vista, we’re always looking for ways to support the future of pet health, and we’re proud to have played a part in a groundbreaking research effort: the FICUSS Study.

This study focused on Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), a painful and often frustrating bladder condition that affects many cats. FIC can cause symptoms like frequent urination, blood in the urine, and discomfort, and it’s notoriously difficult to diagnose and treat. That’s why research like this is so important.

Over the course of the study, more than 1,000 cats were enrolled in under 8 months, making it the largest and most thoroughly annotated biobank of FIC patient samples ever created. Vista contributed approximately 40 samples, helping researchers build a powerful resource to better understand what causes FIC.

With this data, scientists can now begin analyzing the samples to uncover the underlying causes of the disease. Their findings could lead to better diagnostic tools, more accurate testing, and new treatments, all aimed at helping cats feel more comfortable and live healthier lives.

We’re incredibly proud of our team for their dedication and grateful to the pet parents who participated. Being part of studies like this is one of the many ways we work to improve veterinary care and support the well-being of our furry family members.

A big shoutout to our team for their participation and efforts in this study!

We are so grateful to be able to participate in studies like this that help to benefit the future of pet health.
